Canon T5i Advantages:
- Viewfinder Magnification – Higher magnification.
- Less Expensive – The T5i costs around $300 less
The T5i is older and still a good camera, but so far it’s only advantage is the lower price. If you want to start cheap, it’ll do great.

Canon 77D Advantages:
- Megapixels – 6,2 more megapixels. For printing big and cropping, the Canon 77D is a much better choice.
- Body Image Stabilization – The Canon 77D has video stabilization which helps a lot if you don’t have a lens with IS, but it doesn’t work for photographs.
- ISO – 51,200 vs 25,600. Higher maximum ISO sensitivity.
- AF Points – 45 vs 9.
- Cross-type AF Points – 45 vs 9. Cross-type AF Points are much more accurate and faster in low light.
- Continuous mode – 6fps vs 5fps. It’s an advantage, but not something you will really notice that often.
- Top LCD Display – When shooting in semi-auto/manual modes, you can quickly preview all of your settings.
- JPEG Buffer Size – Unlimited vs 15. Useful for long bursts.
- RAW Buffer Size – 27 vs 6.
- Time-Lapse
- Built-in Wi-Fi
- Built-in NFC
- Bluetooth Support
- Battery Life – 600 shots vs 440 shots.
The Canon 77D is worth the extra money, but only if you find the advantages useful for your photography style. Most people do though, since a sensor with 6MP more, video stabilization, way better AF system that’s more accurate and faster and a built-in Wi-Fi will really make your life easier and help you at taking pictures. On top of that, it’s got a bigger buffer which is useful for sports and wildlife photography, longer battery life, time-lapse feature and shoots 6 vs 5fps.
