Canon 77D Advantages:
- Built-in Video Stabilization – The 77D has a 5-axis electronic stabilization built in for video only. Helps when you’re using long focal lengths or simply not stable enough
- LCD Screen – It’s fully articulated compared to only tilting on the X-T20. This makes it better for recording videos of yourself. Both have the same resolution and support touchscreen
- Top LCD Display – Very useful for previewing your settings, battery life and other modes without constantly having to check the rear LCD display
- Buffer – Unlimited JPEG buffer compared to 62, and nearly identical for RAW. Honestly, 62 is already more than what most will need, but it’s still an advantage
- Flash Sync Speed – 1/200 vs /180
- Connectivity – The 77D also has built-in NFC and Bluetooth support
- Battery Life – Almost twice as long battery life. These are studio CIPA tests with 50% flash usage so expect both to be higher, but with the same capacitiy difference
- Less Expensive – The 77D body is around $150 cheaper
What are the advantages you’ll most appreciate? The longer battery life, video stabilization and the fully articulating LCD screen. There’s no 4K option so it all depends on what’s your priority for video.

Fujifilm X-T20 Advantages:
- AF System – For a mirrorless camera at this price, the 325 Hybrid AF is an awesome feature. 49 of those points are phase-detect so you get the best of both worlds (phase is better for fast subjects, contrast better for slower ones. This is a very basic explanation). The 77D has all 45 phase-detect though, and they’re cross-type, so both cameras are excellent for sports.
- 8 vs 6fps -You can also shoot at 11 or 14fps, but only using the electronic shutter (it’s silent, doesn’t vibrate, but can make moving subjects look distorted).
- Focus Peaking – Every mirrorless camera offers focus peaking. If you’re focusing with a manual lens or have a bad eye sight, the camera highlights what part of your image is in focus. Great for video too!
- Viewfinder – Its coverage is 100% and what you see in the viewfinder is exactly what you get (exposure wise too). The magnification is also a little bit bigger
- 4K Video -The X-T20 can record 4K videos at 30p.
- Faster Max Shutter Speed – 1/32000 vs 1/4000
- Size & Weight – The camera is a lot smaller and lighter
