Sony A6500 Advantages:
- Megapixels – 8.2 more megapixels. For printing big and cropping, the Sony A6500 is a much better choice.
- Sensor Format – APS-C is bigger than MFT. When shooting above ISO 3,200, you’ll notice a big difference in image quality.
- ISO – 51,200 vs 25,600 – Higher maximum ISO sensitivity.
- AF Points – 425 vs 49 points. The A6500 also has more phase detect, while the G85 has all contrast (slower in low light).
- Continuous mode – 11fps vs 6fps. It’s an advantage, but not something you will really notice that often.
- RAW Buffer Size – 110 vs 62.
- Built-in NFC
- Size – The Sony A6500 is noticeably smaller.
The Sony A6500 has 8 more megapixels so if you’re looking for something to print extremely large with, having a 24MP sensor helps a lot. It’s also got a way better AF system with more points, is twice as fast in continuous mode and has a bigger RAW buffer.

Panasonic G85 Advantages:
- AA Filter – The Panasonic G85 has no AA filter.
- LCD – It’s fully articulated.
- LCD Resolution – Higher resolution.
- Viewfinder Magnification – Higher magnification.
- UHS-II – Faster writing speeds than UHS-I, but you need a memory card that can handle such speeds.
- Faster Max Shutter Speed – 1/16000 vs 1/4000.
- JPEG Buffer Size – Unlimited vs 231. Useful for long bursts.
- Less Expensive – The G85 costs around $400 less
The G85 costs less, has an articulating LCD screen that is helpful when shooting things that are way below or above you. The UHS-II support is great if you need extremely fast SD speeds.
