1.  Battery

nikon-d3300-batteryNikon EN-EL15 Battery – The Nikon D610 uses the same EL15 battery as plenty of other Nikon cameras, so if you’re upgrading you might not even need some extra batteries. However, if you have only 1, it’s really recommended to get at least another, especially if you will shoot for long periods without any access to a charger. Worst case scenario, a battery dies when you need your camera the most and you luckily have your extra battery with you.

  • Non-Nikon batteries are usually low quality and can damage your camera
  • If you record videos or shoot weddings, concerts, an extra battery is a must
  • You can get up to 2500 with two batteries

You can buy it on Amazon.

3.  Memory Card

best-sdhc-memory-cards

SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro UHS-I (95MB/s) – SanDisk is number one when it comes to memory cards brands, and this one is fast enough so you can take pictures in burst mode without waiting for the card to write the files. This is really important when you can’t afford to miss a shot due to the fact your card is slow at writing shots/videos (weddings and fireworks for example). An extra memory card is the cheapest accessory you can buy, but is often the most important especially if you lots of long shootings.

  • Read up to 90MB/s + Write up to 95MB/s
  • It’s waterproof, shockproof and x-ray proof as well
  • Full HD or 7fps on the 80D are no challenge for this card
  • You can store over 3,000 shots on 32GB (assuming you shoot at 24MP, JPEG)

You can buy it on Amazon.

Also: SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro (95MB/s)

4.  Tripod

Dolica AX620 62″ Tripod and Ball Head – Hands down the best tripod for any DSLR under $100 (this one costs $50). You shouldn’t get the cheapest tripod because they’re usually aimed at lighter cameras like a point and shoot.

  • Weighs 2.5 lbs and is 22.5 inches tall (when fully collapsed)

5.  Disc Light Reflectors

neewer-5-in-1-reflector

Neewer 5-in-1 (43″) Collapsible Light Reflector – Light is the most important factor for any photograph, and the more you can control/affect it, the more chances you have of truly getting professional shots. Sometimes that’s by using an external flash, and sometimes that’s by simply reflecting the available light (or with a flash) to specific areas of your subject.

  • 5 light reflectors in 1 (43 inches diameter when opened)
  • Gold, black, silver, white and translucent, 5 most popular colors
  • Perfect for both studio and outdoor photography, easy to carry

nikon-remote-shutter

Pixel RW-221 Wireless Shutter Remote – If you’re into night photography, fireworks, stop motion or any type of photography where you use longer shutter speeds and can’t have your finger constantly on the shutter button, a remote control really makes your life easier and allows you to be more precise with long exposures (there’s also no shake from you pressing the shutter button on the camera itself).

  • Works with the Nikon D610 and almost all cameras on the market
  • Also features a delay shooting function for group shots
  • Uses 2xAAA batteries and works for 400 hours.

You can buy it on Amazon.

7.  Battery Grip

MB-D14 Battery Grip – If you already have two batteries, it’s a good idea to get a battery grip. It introduces an addition shutter button for vertical photography (much more stability) and your whole setup will be much more stable. This is assuming you already don’t find the D610 too heavy, or it will have a negative effect on the weight.

  • Double battery life (around 2400 with 2 batteries inside)
  • For shooting vertically, the extra button will allow you to get sharper images
  • The grip can be used with 6 x AA batteries

You can buy it on Amazon.
