Canon T7i Advantages:
- Megapixels – The T7i has 4 more megapixels. Not a lot, but if you’re going to crop a lot then it’s an advantage.
- Built-in Video Stabilization – The Canon T7i is their first DSLR to stabilize the video (5-axis, doesn’t work for photographs)
- Auto Focus – The T7i’s AF is way more sophisticated. It’s got 45 vs 11 AF points, and all 45 are cross-type compared to just 1 on the 6D. It’ll be better for sports, low light and pretty much anything. The 6D isn’t slow or bad, it’s just that the 5 year newer T7i is simply better here
- 6 vs 4.5fps – 1.5 extra difference every second. Another reason why the T7i is better for action
- LCD Screen – It’s fully articulated and also touchscreen. Better for selecting your focus point on the LCD screen and recording videos
- Full HD at 60fps – If videos are important to you, 60 vs 30fps results in smoother slow motion clips
- Bigger buffer – The RAW buffer is bigger; 27 vs 17.
- Connections – The T7i has built-in Bluetooth and NFC support
- Size & Weight – The T7i is a lot smaller and lighter (200g difference)
- Less expensive – Body only, the T7i costs around $750 less
Even though the Canon T7i is a Rebel (entry-level), it’s much better for sports and action because of its superior AF system and 6fps. That’s what a 5 year difference does.
For video, sharing your shots quicker and traveling, the T7i is simply better.

Canon EOS 6D Advantages:
- Full Frame vs APS-C – FF sensors are bigger and therefore show less noise when shooting at higher ISO (1,600+)
- Higher Max ISO – 1 stop higher max ISO
- Top LCD Display – This is something you’ll never see on an entry-level DSLR. Having a top LCD display means you can quickly see and change all of your settings, and that includes ISO and auto focus type as well. If shooting in manual, you don’t always have to check the LCD screen if your settings are correct.
- Viewfinder – The 6D has a 97% coverage and 1.0x magnification. It won’t affect your photographs, but you’ll be able to see your subjects better when looking through the 6D’s viewfinder.
- Built-in GPS – No need to buy external GPS adapters
- Environmentally Sealed – Much more protected against water/snow/dust etc.
- Battery Life – 1090 vs 600 shots with a single charge!
The Canon EOS 6D is an affordable full frame camera, which is why you don’t see as many bells and whistles. For mostly stills, portraits, studio and landscape, it’s an excellent tool and many also use it for sports too. It’s just that the AF system doesn’t have as many (cross) points as we’d like today, but back in 2012 this was a big reason why it was more affordable.
It’s bigger, but still relatively light for a FF camera and can be used for traveling in all sorts of conditions thanks to its sealing.
