Canon 80D Advantages:

  • Megapixels – 8 more megapixels
  • Sensor Size – APS-C is bigger than MFT which results in less noise at high ISO speeds
  • AF System – The 80D has 4 less points (45 vs 49) but they’re all phase-detect and cross-type compared to all contrast on the GH4. It results in more accurate tracking of faster subjects or when shooting in low light
  • Top LCD Display – You can quickly preview all of your settings, as well as battery life, focusing mode etc. Helps a lot when shooting in manual modes
  • Built-in NFC
  • Battery Life – 430 shots longer battery life

Why should you get the 80D? If you need the extra 8 megapixels, better low light performance (slightly, not that better though) and a more advanced AF system. It’ll last longer but other than that the GH4 is much better for video and also beats it in burst mode (12 vs 7fps)

  • Focus Peaking – The GH4 can highlight what’s in focus! Excellent when focusing manually, whether it’s video or photography
  • Viewfinder Coverage – 100% vs 98%
  • 4K Video – The GH4 can record 4K videos in 30, 25 or 24p
  • JPEG Buffer – Unlimited vs 53
  • Size & Weight -160g lighter and much smaller

If you want a camera that can record 4K videos, is compact and doesn’t stand out a lot, the GH4 is an excellent choice. It’s got plenty of useful video features we haven’t covered and is one of the best 4K capable cameras on the market today for the money.
