Canon 80D Advantages:
- Megapixels – 4 more megapixels
- AF System – It’s got 45 vs 11 AF points, and all 45 of those are cross-type compared to only 1 on the 6D. It’s faster for both action and still photography
- 7 vs 4.5fps – Not a big difference, but it’s an advantage when shooting really fast subjects
- LCD Screen – It’s fully articulated, whereas the Canon 6D’s screen is fixed
- Touchscreen – You can select the focus point on the LCD screen itself, as well as navigate through the menus etc.
- Dual Pixel AF – The 80D has Canon’s latest DPAF technology which is far more accurate and usable when recording videos than what the 6D has
- Full HD – Available in 60p rather than 30p
- Headphone Jack – Helps if you want to monitor the audio quality
- RAW Buffer – 24 vs 17
- Time-Lapse
- Built-in Flash
- Flash Sync Speed – 1/250 vs 1/200
- Built-in NFC
- Size – The 80D weighs is a little bit smaller
- Less Expensive – Body only, the Canon 80D costs around $400 less
The Canon 80D has a 4 year advantage on the 6D, hence the improved AF system, 7fps, touchscreen, DPAF and Full HD at 60fps. The LCD screen is also articulated, which helps when shooting in awkward positions. Despite having an APS-C sensor, which is smaller, the big age difference results in improved technology and the image quality is great.

Canon 6D Advantages:
- Sensor – Full frame vs APS-C. It’s bigger so you can expect slightly less noise when shooting at high ISO speeds
- Higher ISO Range – The Canon 6D goes all the way to 102,400, 2 stops more than the 80D
- Viewfinder Magnification– Your subject appears just a tad bigger, which helps if you have problems with your eye sight
- JPEG Buffer – Unlimited vs 53
- Built-in GPS
- Battery Life – 130 shots longer
If you’re looking for an affordable full frame DSLR, the Canon 6D rocks. Besides less noise when using higher ISO speeds, you can get a shallower depth of field which helps when shooting portraits etc.
