Best Memory Cards for Canon M5

The Canon M5 has 1 x SD memory card slot and supports UHS-I cards. With 7 frames per second, 24 megapixels and Full HD video, you’ll want a memory card that can handle such files with ease.

Our most recommended memory card is the SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB. It’s super fast (95MB/s) and affordable, plus SanDisk is the most reliable memory card company out there.

We recommend buying either UHS-I cards or even UHS-II if you really need faster transferring speeds to your computer. Also make sure to look at the rating of each UHS card, as U1 is the slowest, and U3 is the fastest. Because the M5 doesn’t support UHS-II speeds, using such a card will be the same as using UHS-I.

Best memory cards for Canon M5:

SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB

Our top pick: The SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB (95MB/s) is one of the most popular cards and for a very good reason. It’s fast enough for Full HD, 7fps and even 4K video (which the M5 doesn’t offer), isn’t too expensive and supports UHS-I U3 writing speeds.

You’ll get fast writing and reading speeds, both in camera and when transferring the files on the computer or previewing the photographs on the camera. Whenever something needs to load (camera or computer), this also depends on the speed of your memory card.

You can buy it at Amazon or see more reviews here.

Lexar Profesional 633x UHS-I

The Lexar Professional 633x 32GB U3 also comes with Image Rescue 5 software (review here). Both memory card brands are fast and reliable, but the included software will save you from headaches if you accidentally delete your shots.

It’s UHS-I but U1 and not U3, but this won’t affect the writing speeds as both U1 and U3 perform the same in the M5.

You can buy it at Amazon or see more reviews here.

Transcend 16GB UHS-I

transcend-32gb-sdhc-uhs-1

Transcend is another popular brand with more reviews on Amazon than most cards, and their Transcend 16GB UHS-I card is the cheapest option if you don’t shoot hundreds of images weekly, as you can store a little bit over 1,500 shots on it. It’s the cheapest but that’s because of U1.

You can buy it at Amazon or see more reviews here.

Don’t buy memory cards from unknown brands or something that looks too good to be true. More often than not, those cards will fail right when you’ll need them the most.

A memory card is where all of your work is stored until you transfer that on the computer.

Make sure to get a card from any of the following brands: SanDisk, Lexar, Transcend and Kingston. There are a few good out there, but the 5 we mentioned are more than enough.
