Best Memory Cards for Canon 80D

Since the Canon 80D is a fast DSLR (7fps) that can also record Full HD videos, it’s recommended to buy fast memory card to fully use those speeds. Slow memory cards will result in long delays before you can take a picture, and this gets even worse when doing long exposure photography or videos, let alone at 7fps burst mode.

Our top pick: Want the fastest there is? The Lexar Professional 2000X 64GB reads and writes up to 300MB/s (USB 3.0) and is simply the best option if you often shoot in burst mode, or do loads of video recording. No delay between taking images or anything, and you’ll be able to use it with many newer cameras as well.

Lexar also includes a USB 3.0 reader in the kit, and there are 32GB and 128GB options available as well. It’s always better to buy a few cards instead of a big one so you minimize the risk of losing all shots together, so I’d recommend you to pick 32GB or 64GB (latter if you’re also into videos).

Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II

Another much more affordable, yet still fast enough for 4K videos card is the Lexar Professional 1000x 64GB that goes up to 150MB/s. While it is twice as slow as the memory card above, that’s still blazingly fast and perfectly good for the 80D and many more other advanced cameras.

Our final pick is the SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB (95MB/s). Just like Lexar, SanDisk is an old and top quality memory card brand. Their memory cards are also known for being extremely waterproof, shockproof and much more, so even if your memory card falls in the water, you can count on your shots still being there.

There’s obviously a ton of memory cards out there, but what we really don’t recommend is buying from cheap, unknown brands. You’ll only end up paying more when they stop working soon after a while.

It’s extremely hard getting back images lost due to card issues, so this is definitely where you don’t want to buy from random companies!
