Nikon D3400 Advantages:
- Megapixels – 8 more megapixels
- AA Filter – The D3400 has no AA filter which results in slightly sharper images
- Higher Max ISO – Both native and expanded ISO are higher by 1 stop. The amount of noise is also a little bit less visible
- Auto Focus – 11 vs 9 AF points
- 5 vs 3fps – Noticeably faster and better for wildlife and sports
- Full HD at 60fps – The T6 can “only” do 30fps, so 60fps is better for slow motion clips and smoother videos
- Bigger Buffer – 100 shots JPEG buffer versus 15
- Battery Life – 200 shots longer battery life
- Weight & Size – 100g lighter body and slightly smaller
Both cameras were released in 2016, but the Nikon D3400 beats it in every department.
First of all, it has no AA filter which results in slightly sharper images and it also has 8 more megapixels. More won’t result in better quality, but if you print big or crop a lot then it’ll be a big advantage. The ISO performance is better, it can shoot 5 vs 3fps, Full HD at 60fps and also has a bigger buffer for JPEG.
For the price, it’s an excellent camera and is actually our most recommended DSLR if you’re looking for the best bang for the buck.
Not to mention, the D3400 is the lightest DSLR so if you’re looking for something compact it’s even better than the already small T6.
