Canon 5D Mark IV and IVc Coming Soon?

Even though Canon announced the 5DS and 5DS R models a while ago, rumors state that there are still some 5D models left to be announced.

Canon EOS 5D IV

  • 28 Megapixels
  • 12 frames per second
  • Dual Pixel AF III
  • New AF System
  • Anti-Flickr Technology
  • Crop mode
  • ISO 100-204,800 (expands up to 409,600)

The specifications above look realistic and good. With 28 megapixels and all this new technology, high ISO shouldn’t be a problem, and will most likely still be usable till 102,400. 12fps is also the same Canon’s 7D II, an APS-C sports camera, and we should expect a new, better AF system than what the current 5D line has to offer.

Canon EOS 5D IVc

  • 18 Megapixels
  • 61AF Points
  • Dual Pixel AF III
  • ISO 100-204,800
  • 4K Video (frame rate unknown so far)
  • Many advanced video features
  • Features taken from Canon’s Cinema cameras

4K video on a FF Canon would be excellent to have, but it’s reported that there might be some heating issues, hence the frame rate still being unknown. Let’s just hope it won’t be at 15fps like the new Nikon’s mirrorless camera.

Announcement date is summer/fall 2015, which seems plausible. We’re definitely going to see some 4K DSLRs in the near future, and a direct upgrade to the 5D Mark III.
