Advantages Of Nikon D5300
It’s the most advanced entry level DSLR from Nikon, so it should be much better, right?

- Slightly bigger viewfinder magnification

I’m not sure which way to look at this. Either the D3300 is so good, or the D5300 is overpriced. These two cameras have plenty of things in common:
- 24 megapixels
- ISO from 100 to 25,600
- 5 frames per second
- Similar size and weight
- Same video frame rates
The list goes on, but the biggest difference to me is the AF system. Whether that’s worth an extra $250 (assuming you get the D5300 with 18-55mm), it’s up to you. Personally I would wait a bit before getting any of these two models, and would only consider the D5300 with the new 18-140mm lens.
Nikon D3300 definitely wins in terms of price/performance.
