Here is a compilation of 15 most popular lenses for Canon cameras. For almost twice the price, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 gives you better quality, an Ultra Sonic Motor and better lens design. It’s been a part of my EOS system for years.
4. Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II
The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II is easily the best telephoto lens on a budget that won’t make you feel like it’s cheap at all! There’s also a more expensive, STM version available if you’re super serious about video recording.
5. Canon EF-S 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM
With slightly more reach than the one above, the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM is more affordable, but not on the same level when it comes to quality. I’ve owned it for a year and it’s great if you want to keep it light and simple.
6. Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
My all-time favorite prime lens is the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM, as it makes low light photography and blurring the background so easy. Great for portraits and pretty much any occasion where you want razor sharp images.
7. Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
If you’re looking for a high quality telephoto lens, and have a $2,000 budget, get yourself the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens.
8. Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
I’ve had the Canon EF-S 10-22mm on my 7D for a few years, and it forces you to be careful because sometimes you capture too much on your image! Best wide lens option for APS-C Canon cameras (money wise).
9. Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
For around $500, the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM will allow you to do wildlife and sports photography, without breaking the bank.
10. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro
Announced in 2009, this Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro is the first macro Canon macro lens with Image Stabilization. The older version is around $500, with basic build quality and no IS.
11. Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the kit lens of Canon EOS 5D cameras, it’s an amazing all around lens for times when you don’t want to carry too much equipment.
12. Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II
Here’s another kit lens for every Canon APS-C announced so far. It covers the range that you can use for everyday things.
13. Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Sometimes, it’s best to go with a third-party brand. They’re cheaper, and hopefully as equally as good as Canon lenses. The 10-20mm is a great alternative to the EF-S 10-22mm.
14. Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro
If you were thinking of buying the EF 75-300mm, I seriously recommend you to rather get the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro version! Better quality, slightly lower price and it feels better to handle.
15. Sigma 18-250mm f/4.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Macro
For those who want one single lens and forget about everything else, the Sigma 18-250mm f/4.5-6.3 DC OS HSM allows you to do just that! Buy it, and use it for every trip, photo shooting etc.
